Boomer is a striped skunk. His natural coloring is lavender, which is a rare color for a striped skunk. Usually you will find black or chocolate striped skunks. These skunks are found in central and southern Canada as well as all of the United States in deserts, woodlands, grassy plains and suburbs. Skunks are omnivores who eat vegetables, insects and grubs, small mammals, the eggs of ground nesting birds, amphibians and whatever else they can get into.

The skunk's unique characteristic is their defense, the ability to stink anything away. They can spray their musk 15 feet and if you get caught in their path you will need to take a bath in tomato juice to get rid of the smell. Humans actually use the skunk musk to make perfumes because of its ability to hold the scent and cling. Of course, they take the skunk odor out first.

The skunk's main predator is the great horned owl.

Omnivore - An Animal that eats all types of food.
